While Rockstar felt the need to provide the player with a quick means of traversing this huge world, they also wanted to keep things a little authentic. As such, you can’t just go warping around willy-nilly like it’s Zelda or something. You must be stationed at that map in your camp every time you fast travel, as you can only do so from th
He even calls it a paradise on earth—so what happens when you finally make it over the border? Irish up and leaves back to the US never to be seen again. It’s a weird move considering his existence in the States is beyond miserable, plus the trip has been one arduous and dangerous ride—yet for no specific reason, he heads back ag
After running endless chores, Marston is able to gain enough equipment and aid to take the fight to Fort Mercer. By the time you arrive, one of Marston’s allies—the clearly insane Seth—has already made his way inside and is humoring the outlaw gangs ins
After Arthur Morgan either dies of tuberculosis or gets shot/stabbed by Micah Bell, depending on your ending, you swap to playing as John Marston with his family; or, as the leaker puts it, «jon marsten.» As the poster originally described at the time:
Red Dead Redemption was the tale of John Marston being forced back into the life of an outlaw due to his family being held hostage by the government. Marston was a man who was tired of killing, but would do it anyway because he wanted his family back and to return to a life of peace. This is curiously repeated in the epilogue of Red Dead Redemption 2 , as you once again take control of Marston as he seeks a peaceful life on the ranch of another only to be forced back into killing.
Still, it’s better than not having it, that’s for sure, and it’ll still save you a lot of frustration. Nevertheless, you’ll be glad to know that there’s another method of traversing the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 quicker than a horse: trains and stagecoac
One of the most affecting examples of this for my playthrough in Red Dead Redemption 2 Treasure Maps Dead Redemption 2 was when I came across a house after finishing a race with a stranger. I went into the house curious if there was anything inside, such as the seemingly endless amount of cigarette cards. Inside, there was a father and son having a tense confrontation over the father’s wasteful habits that caused his wife to leave them. While leaving, the boy discovered my hiding place and ran to his room. The father pulled out a gun, so I naturally killed him and proceeded to loot the location as muscle memory kicked in for every other location in the game.
For those that don’t know, a «vertical slice» demo is essentially if a prototype of a game was fully perfected to look and perform like the final product. So, imagine a mission from the released Red Dead Redemption 2 was cut out of the game and playable on its own – just in 2016 when the rest of the game was not made. That’s what the team were seemingly trying to perfect and showcase to investors to get the project out of development hell.
Events that players took part in get written about, and it’s interesting to read about them from a remote perspective. It is also a testament to the amount of detail developers put in this game if they have dynamic newspap
[pullquote]»The trend of characters who kill or have killed only have to take a moment to acknowledge that what they did was bad and not actively work towards helping others to be considered okay is so tired.»[/pullquote]
In recent years, just about everyone’s been getting in on the whole open world thing. Titles like Grand Theft Auto V and Skyrim defined what it meant to offer players a huge, sandbox world to explore, and the bar’s been raised repeatedly si
What an interesting take from this leak. So apparently, Red Dead Redemption 2 was stuck in a form of development hell – which is when a game’s initial development is halted and the future of whether or not it will continue is still in the air. It’s interesting that the team «kept remaking a vertical slice demo» as late as months prior to the game’s official announcement. It seems they got everything in order in those months.
In RDR , John famously swam like a rock when he so much as put a toe into deep water. Not even his horses could keep him from sinking. In RDR2 , Rockstar not only has Arthur constantly make fun of John for it, but you will also lose the ability to swim when you play as John in the Epilogue. Talk about commitment to a charac
It took the steadfast GTA formula and transposed it to the Wild West, yet it was saddled with a stronger and emotional story and a thick atmosphere steeped in real-life American history—resulting in both an exhilarating yet moving experience, bittersweet to the core. It was an impressive piece of work that arguably stands as the development studio’s masterpiece—which is no mean feat in its
RDR2 being a prequel to RDR has allowed for Rockstar to make a tremendous amount of call forwards, deliberately ensuring that playing RDR after its sequel will have more of an impact. One of these bits of foreshadowing happens when John is missing in a snowstorm at the beginning of the game, and Arthur and Javier are sent out to look for
